The fire in the bar is now lit which can only mean that winter is nearly here and Christmas is fast approaching, our Village shop is doing quite well with all our Thorpeness gifts and The Chef is frantically getting ready for the Aldeburgh lights and The Thorpeness Christmas Fair. Lovely puddings, pies, biltong, mince pies and other exciting goodies.
Opening at 11.00am The Village Christmas Fair this year is being held at the Dolphin and should be quite exciting with the normal stands of cakes, puddings, jams chutneys, a tombola and other fun activities and for those clever savers, this year we have a HUGE record pay out in the evening. Starting at 7.00pm, the Pickle will be sponsored by the Village Store and all money raised will be donated to the Alms Houses and The Aldringham Church. I can’t wait for the ever popular Village Christmas Party and secret Santa - this has traditionally become a wonderful event bringing the whole Village together all celebrating under one roof.
John’s Truly Exciting Christmas Quiz is another evening to look forward to kicking off at 7.00pm with something delicious to eat while you test the grey stuff and there are prizes to boot.
Steve's Draw on the 18th December will again be raising money for Charity with tons of prizes and we will be raffling off Chris’ Ginger Bread House.
My absolute favourite evening of the festive season Christmas Eve with lovely carol singing, a visit from Father Christmas, live music, mulled wine, hot chestnuts, hot chocolate….
New Year... this year we are celebrating the 20’s with a prohibition style party, …YOU WILL NEED TO FIND THE ENTRANCE TO THE SPEAKEASY!!
I am looking forward to a wonderful festive season, and would like to thank everyone in advance for celebrating with us at this time of the year.
The Dolphin and Village Store with the help of the local community has recorded another amazing year having raised record amounts of money for various important charities, schools and hospitals and none of this would have been possible without the participation of our local residents, volunteers and visitors to Thorpeness. A big thank you to all of you, and I look forward to this coming year.
A very MERRY Christmas to all and we all hope you have a wonderful NEW YEAR.
