I do hope you have all now recovered from a wonderful Festive season. A big thank you to all those who managed to pop in and spend a bit of time with us during the festive season. Christmas Eve was a fantastic start for us and always our most anticipated event, many glasses of mulled wine poured, carol singing, a visit from Father Christmas and generally a lot of merry making. The great weather over Boxing and New Years day saw an amazing number of walkers and families visiting Thorpeness.
Looking back over this past year we have enjoyed quite a few successes - overall we managed to raise nearly £4500.00 for various charities including donations to our local church; we sent money off to fight ebola, Wardens Trust and Water aid also benefitted. Thank you to all those who volunteered to help with The Village fete, coffee mornings, film shows, draw prizes etc. Every little bit helps, in 2013 we also raised £1000.00 for the Philippines disaster and I feel proud that we managed to help quite a few families desperately in need.
This year we are following on from last year’s successes, we start by celebrating the life and poetry of Robert Burns over the weekend of 24th and 25th January, the ever popular Sound Quiz hosted by Dave is on the 10TH February - please get your tickets from the shop or the Dolphin. Chris will again be making loads of pancakes on Shrove Tuesday starting at about 3.00pm teaching the little ones to make pancakes. Please remember Valentine’s Day and Mothers day are just around the corner so please book as we do fill up quickly. New this year every Tuesday evening you can now bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal (only the good stuff please), this offer is on until the end of March, please make sure to take advantage of this great opportunity.
